Good afternoon from Korea! I happened to run across this internet cafe near where I was just visiting an in-law: laputa.co.kr and thought I would check in. I see I am responding to the last of 70 messages I have not read, not to mention hundreds of others on SI. Can someone please get an intern to summarize what I missed on every Y2K thread and have it on my desk first thing in the morning? Better yet, have her on my desk first thing tonight (no, my wife is not here, but I'm sure I'll regret writing that joke anyway).
On the Stock Swap thread I wrote about my problems getting on the internet, even though Koreans pay about $5 a month for the internet plus local phone charges and all seem to have cellular phones.
Here I will spend the few moments I have to urge anyone going overseas to bring Pepto Bismol and NOT eat the sushi. As a sushi veteran from way back I decided to have four pieces a few days ago. So far in my life I have "tossed" twice in the last 30 years. The last time was last year in Korea when I ate a fast-food hamburger (I should have been suspicious when I saw there were no cows in Korea), and the most recent time was after those sushi. I set a record of 15 times, 10 in a row, all active, i.e no dry heaving). The worst part was constantly clearing the drain in the bath tub to drain it away. I think I'll chew my food a lot better from now on.
If you are reading this around mealtime, my apologies.
I presume I should be back on-line Wednesday night when I get back home.
