This is one confusing story. It seems that nary a day goes by without someone changing the tune of the story.

If I were pinned down here's how my story would go:

Right now I see too much capacity globally.
Yet some of that capacity seems to be idle or in mothballs.
So we see a temp spike in memory prices.
Yet the Koreans need cash and they may put some fabs back on-line.
However things may not be as desperate for the Koreans as a few weeks
back so they may be able to afford to stay off-line.
Then again the Won is cheap and they need dollars.
So I think they'll go back on line at some point if they have not already.
However worldwide demand is still exploding at the close to 100% bit growth / year(esp. under a grand PCs).
Really don't think they will be enough of new capacity coming on line in the next few months to offset increasing demand.
Therefore suspect DRAM going up steadily at some point.

Of course then some fabs that are in moth balls may come on line...

To be honest CLUELESS>>>>. I would rather leave the DRAM guessing game and DRAM stocks to the experts. Just thinking of that entire area makes my head hurt!

All qualtitative guessing!!!! Would rather have numbers to support the guessing!

(And is the reason why I don't invest in those boys - just don't know enough of a story that keeps changing almost on a daily basis.)

Still prefer my LSI that just sits there and
