P, Re -- the HP $1049 doesn't have 56K modem.. The HP has a 56KFlex modem and software for AOL, Worldnet and a bunch of other software ( $1000 worth) installed. It also has a 4.0 gig hard drive and 24X CD Rom, Compaq only has 3.2 G hard drive and a 20x CD Rom. Stockman
