I don't know what the terrain is like where this pipeline is to be layed, but 2 miles a day are very lofty expectations, IMO. I have laid a lot of pipeline,in South Carolina-mostly in sand(12"-48" forcemain-ductile iron pipe, slip joint). Makes for easy digging and backfilling, but being so close to the ocean created a lot of "running sand" problems. Also laid a lot of pipe here in the NE,lots of ground water and plenty of blasting required, very slow process. Much will depend on the stability of the ground they will be working in-this can make or break a project timeline. One other major factor are fittings/tie-ins/valves etc.,installation of these takes the most time.(many of these large valves weigh well over 5 ton). How close is the concrete batch plant, plenty will be needed for thrust blocking etc. Each well has to be tied in, all very time consumming. Will they have to do any boring, all adds time. DD
PS: just the simple fact of whether or not they will need to use trench boxes(to keep it from caving in),will tell the tale..assuming it is all underground(which I don't know)
