I agree with your comment. Apple takes too many things too far before it stops them. Too many projects started and stopped too soon. Remember eWorld? Remember the CD-Roms Apple used to include with third party software on them? It's very expensive for Apple to stop these projects and throw away all that was put into them, but it's also a disappointment for the people who worked on them, and the consumers who were enjoying them. I personally never bought a Newton, so you know it must have been relatively uninspiring, since I bought so many things Apple created. But I feel for those both who developed software and hardware for it, who worked to make it a success, and those who bought it expecting some continued products for it and full Apple support.

I agree with Bill's comments about shooting the hostage, though. Just wish Apple didn't keep Newton this long if only to drop it, without even being willing to sell it. Could it be they didn't want anyone else to have their technology?
