Mike: You almost scared me half to death with that post! "big box makers" not knowing what DVD is and making comments like those you posted will soon be "small box makers". ---- I have seen plenty of ads with DVD computers in magazines. Did an online check of the big 3 and as I expected (thank god!) they do supply DVD computers. (1) The multimedia PCs do have DVD options. Dell: dell.com dell.com Micron: micronpc.com Gateway: gateway.com ---- (2) It is still early in the game for DVD. But this is the way things work in the PC world - first higher end, then mainstream and pretty soon CDs will be gone (give it 3 years, maybe 2 if we are lucky - ok 4-5 is realistic... - a little embellishment...) ---- (3) Those guys you spoke to were not only wrong about DVD not being available but I suspect they were wrong about the installation issue as well. Creative has been shipping an upgrade kit for probably 6-7 months now. ---- (4) It is still early in the game for LSI. They began shipping end Q1. Expects DVD and DCAM to be around 100 million this year (or next - need to make sure of this minor little detail!!!). But be patient - LSI should do well here - if they don't start the violin concerto... ---- Shane.
