Sales data for February due Thursday, March 5, 1998. January was a down month for HDS (due to clearance sales in Jan 1997 which did not need to be repeated for Jan 1998). Total chain store sales for the nation were up 5.6% in January. February's comparisons for HDS should be more favorable- but how much more? If they are up 5% or so, shouldn't we end the basing pattern and start up (finally)?
