I won't reply to JR Kary's misrepresentations of my comments here.
This note is about the Computer "Intelligence" report.

Let me remind you of the boghosity of the comparison between loyalties for PC and Mac's.

A user who dumps a Mac must switch its entire software base and retrain workers so they can use PCs. A user who dumps a Dell and buys a Compaq sees no difference whatsoever. Now which one can we expect to have higher user loyalty regardless of ease of use, price/performance, etc.

" In a survey of companies in which a particular brand accounts for 50 percent or more of their computers, La Jolla, Calif.-based Computer Intelligence asked which brand of new machines they bought in December. Apple led the loyalty stakes with a repurchase rate of 51percent, Computer Intelligence said.

What is next? a study showing that people are a lot more loyal to their century 21 built homes than their underwear?

Back when there were Mac clones available people could switch Macs just like PC owners and they did just that in droves.
