Dear May Wang:

Newbridge Networks is one of those core holdings in any tele-communications
portfolio. However, I believe that the stock is likely to tread water for
the next quarter or two. The Asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) market
is the one most likely to create a new wave of business for Newbridge,
since its large base of telephone company customers will eventually want to deploy ATM services. The 36170 ATM product is in trials in 40 sites
now, but serious evaluations of the switch will not take place until
Realease 2 of the software is introduced later this year. The ongoing
product transition should dampen gross margins for some time.

Take a good look at Mitel. (sym: MLT on NYSE)

Vartan Semerjian
