Well Jim it is like this, this Painter girl was so gung-ho on Compaq it didn't do a damn thing to the stock price to her surprise (talk about clout!),then she figured,hey 'I try downgrading the stock,then just may be I can make a name for myself' and some cash for Merrill', so she did and Merrill did as well from the looks of it. It's all about creating volatility, commissions,self-affirmation (like you don't know about that already.),ego-trips etc and less about the prospects of a company,it's fundamentals,the potential growth prospects of the industry or anything like that.
