Out of curiosity, I caught up on the last several day's posts, with the following input:

1. The reference to possibly affecting the full year's profitability depending on insurance means to me that we are not talking small potatoes.

2. I agree that buy, sell, hold type recos are not worth much - but I do think it pays to understand a firm's reason for a change in rating.

3. I am very familiar with Level 2. If AG Edwards was alone as the high bid and a lot of stock traded at the bid without it moving, then you know for sure they were doing good buying. If the stock is moving up fast and they are always high bid you know they are doing some buying - but they could be trying to create the impression that a bottom was hit and you had better hurry to buy before it gets away, when their real objective is to sell out to a new round of buyers. They even could be high bid willing to take some stock to try to stabilize a stock, when there real interest is selling at higher prices. (The key is to see where the price is a few days later, which probably reflects what their true intent was.)

4. The fact that Greenlaw did not say that this was a simple theft, which would have been encouraging news, suggests to me that the matter is more serious, and the class action lawsuits will quite possibly turn out to have merit.
