not so. with each name is a NUMBER. when the name changes the number changes or it stays the same. Uh - you lost me now, I think you've agreed with me, so not sure what your "not so" refers to. As you point out above, the name change has nothing to do with a number change, only the number change would force an accounting. The name change is nothing, happens all the time. If they are issuing a new cusip, then you are correct. I only remember seeing one stock do that recently, they claimed they did it to get an accounting and rid themselves of shorts.
