Marc,

No, I didn't miss your point. According to the news, this is a new microcontroller from AMD and AMD said that they have several unamed customers. So for PTEC to get one customer does not mean anything. It's like saying "according to the poll, 20% of the people will vote for Clinton, 10% will vote for Dole, 5% will vote for Perot, and 65% are still undecided". So from that news, can you tell who will win the election?

Nevertheless, I doubt that AMD will be very successful in selling this chip. This chip is too pricey for smart phones ($44/unit for 66 MHz). AMD is loosing money for years. Intel will come out with a cheap Pentium based microcontroller and kill AMD (again). AMD was trying to compete with Intel in the 486 market but failed, so now they turn their 486 into a microcontroller. I think the deal that SystemSoft has with Geoworks is more substantial.

Mike.
