re DELL does not have the same pricing pressures as CPQ

gc,

see my: techstocks.com

Not only does DELL's business model enable them the fastest reaction time to any change in component pricing within the entire industry, but their production efficiencies also translate into production savings on every machine they build. To reiterate, DELL exerts the pricing pressure. (did you ever play "Crack the Whip"?) You have probably seen both Michael and Eckhard on TV fairly recently: which one is irritable, which is confident?

Furthermore, CPQ has pricing pressure in their low-end from HWP and other traditional channel producers. DELL has staked out a claim to the more profitable government and corporate market, and is cementing their claim with better prices, better quality, and better service.

Bottom line: DELL plays the (price) fiddle, and the others have to dance.

DELLish, 3.
