There has been a lot of talk on the coverage Viagra is getting in the press. I don't think that we should be surprised at the coverage. PFE is trying to make sure that the market stays focused on them. They are using the trick Microsoft uses; as soon as you see real competition lay out a smoke screen of "We'll have something better that will be out real soon now." This is what PFE is doing, and very well I might add. It is possible that Viagra will be good for VVUS by preparing the market for MUSE. I don't think that Vivus has the market clout to raise the public consciousness of ED like PFE can.

It is apparent that the Viagra effect has already been factored into the current price of both VVUS and PFE. I think that as a whole the stock market is driven by one of two things: unrealistic expectations and unrealistic fears. I think that some people feel that the sky is falling on VVUS and that PFE is all roses. If, as I believe, MUSE will have sufficient market to make VVUS very profitable then there will be a turn around. All of us longs are waiting on the same thing .... what will Viagra do to the market? It will be better if the Viagra is approved sooner rather than later to cut down on the FUD effect.

This is not a zero sum game, both PFE and VVUS could do very well. It will be 12 months before we will know what happened in the last 12 months :)
