CANADIAN OILPATCH / LEGAL WAR
Seven producers taking Pan-Alberta to court
October 16, 1996

Pan-Alberta Gas Ltd. is being sued by seven well-known producers for $5 million, although the damages claimed could exceed $50 million. The plaintiffs include Anderson Exploration Ltd., Gulf Canada Resources Ltd., PanCanadian Petroleum
Ltd., and Talisman Energy Inc. Pan-Alberta is an affiliate of both NGC Corp. of Houston and Nova Corp. of Calgary. The seven producers allege that Pan-Alberta breached contracts, depriving them of the best available prices for their natural gas."We're aware of the statement of claim, and we're investigating it," said Nova spokesman Paul Clark. "We will vigorously defend ourselves but are unable to comment further at this time."
