I experienced similar problems and, while it is a compromise, switching over to CD-R has been a large improvement overall. Have you considered this, or is it impractical for you. The Cds are almost bulletproof, cheap ($2) and hold 650 meg. Fairly fast as well and no problems with compatibility on other machines.

The recent move in AAPL seems to be too controlled for simple market volatility. I am looking for a possible announcement quite a bit sooner than later about you know what. Opinions?
