For myself, I don't at all agree with your assumption.

Wireless has too many implementation issues, including security of messages, allocation and use of public frequency spectrum, etc. The FCC is involved, etc. Too messy.

Wireless is desirable in my mind for certain applications where the user community is highly mobile within a geographically small area (which limits frequency interference and crossover with others), and where the pain/agony factor goes exponential with respect to employee cubicle movement, etc. as it relates to maintaining the cabling network, patch panels, etc.
