To All:

I just received my February, 1998 copy of Computer Technology Review in the mail. Page 10 has an article titled, "Sun Microsystems Enters Heterogeneous Computing With The Intelligent Storage Network". They talk about Sun's strategy for storage networks, and even have a picture of the StorEDGE A5000 array. A couple of VERY interesting quotes:

"Next, Sun has embraced Fibre Channel networking, offering a backbone optimized for storage operations."

"The A5000 offers hot-pluggable FC hubs, with FC switches available later this year."

A backbone optimized for storage operations, and switches available later this year. Sounds interesting... I'd say we have at least a one out of three chance. (Ancor, Brocade, or Vixel/Arcxel.)
