Thanks for the Stratfor 'RED ALERT' report on India,insightful!
It seems as though 'someone' (don't want to drop any hint or anything but it starts with a 'P') is a bit scared by the 'situation' that is being unraveled in the Sub-continent.<gg>
The comment by Hon.Minsiter Ayub Khan,""If there is any misadventure by India then there will be a very swift and telling reply." seems like 'bravado' intended to exasperate the already strained relations with India. As for 'very swift and telling reply', I think India has seen the size of IT before and it ain't much,perhaps the Hon.Khan likes to get his 'honorable ass' kicked a third and last time.<gg>

Now in all seriousness, the 'Kashmir Issue' has to be resolved once and for all as it is a tremendous strain on the meger treasuries of both countries and more importantly the price being paid by the people are even greater.I don't know what the answer, obviously these negotiations for the last 50 years haven't done much. If anybody know of a solution to this predicament please feel free to discuss it here, ny and all opinions are welcome in this regard,provocative or not.
Ps: I almost forgot to tell you that BJP themselves do not have a majority to form the government,they will need the help of other parties to join them to accomplish this task. So assuming they come to power (looks like they will) with the help of other parties I think the diverging political philosophies of the extraneous factions in their fold would hopefully keep them in check should they have any 'misadventures' in mind. But certainly there will be changes in the government policies pertaining to Kashmir some of which I believe is needed anyway as this situation can not continue indefinitely. |
