I like the sound of this Spina guy...sounds scrappy. Just what we need:

RCN Names Dennis Spina Director, Vice-Chairman And President Of Internet Services

Former Erol's Internet, Inc. President and CEO To Play A Major Role In Day-To-Day Operations, Former Erol's
CFO Sal Quadrino To Become RCN's Chief Administrative Officer, Lead Integration Of Erol's And Other Recent
Acquisitions Into RCN

PRINCETON, N.J., March 4 /PRNewswire/ -- RCN Corporation (Nasdaq: RCNC - news) announced today that it had named Dennis Spina,
former President and CEO of Erol's Internet, Inc., a Director and Vice-Chairman of RCN, as well as the company's President of Internet Services.
RCN also announced that Sal Quadrino, former Chief Financial Officer of Erol's, would serve as its Chief Administrative Officer.

RCN last week completed the acquisition of Springfield, Virginia-based Erol's, which provides Internet access to roughly 300,000 customers
from Boston to Washington. The transaction established RCN as the Northeast's largest regional Internet service provider (ISP).

''The unique challenges and opportunities of start-up companies can only be learned in the trenches, and Dennis has been there,'' said RCN
Chairman and CEO David C. McCourt. ''He was one of a handful of employees who helped Federal Express open for business. Over the next 17
years, his contributions made the company a major success story and one of the world's most recognizable brand names.''

Spina brings to RCN a substantial level of business experience and a strong record of success. Prior to running Erol's, he was CEO of Suburban
Propane. He spent the first 17 years of his career with Federal Express, where he began as a courier and moved steadily through the ranks,
eventually becoming an officer of the company and, as one of its vice presidents, heading up all East Coast operations.

''Like RCN, FedEx recognized the East Coast's significant potential, deriving nearly a third of its revenue from this region,'' McCourt said. ''RCN
has strongly focused its operations within the Boston to Washington, D.C. corridor, because this area represents 28% of the nation's
telecommunications usage but just 4% of its geography.''

In his new role at RCN, Spina will participate in the company's strategic development and will direct the following departments: sales and
marketing, network construction, operations, customer service and Internet services.

''I'm excited about RCN, a cutting edge telecommunications company with an entrepreneurial mindset and a clear strategy for becoming the
leading phone, cable and Internet provider from Boston to Washington,'' Spina said. ''I see a lot of similarities between RCN today and the
early days of FedEx - a group of hardworking, enthusiastic people working toward a common goal and willing to do whatever it takes to reach
that goal.''

Quadrino most recently served as Erol's Chief Financial Officer. Before that, he was CFO of Suburban Propane and then succeeded Spina as
CEO of the Whippany, NJ-based company before leaving two years later to join Spina at Erol's Internet.

At RCN, Quadrino will direct management information systems, facilities and human resources. He will also be responsible for the integration of
Erol's and another recent RCN acquisition, the Boston-based UltraNet Communications, Inc., into RCN's existing business.

''RCN represents something entirely new in the world of residential telecommunications,'' Quadrino said. ''This company's success will, to a
great extent, be driven by the quality of its people and the reliability of its technology. I look forward to making strong contributions on both
fronts.''

RCN Corporation (Nasdaq: RCNC - news) is the nation's first and largest single-source, facilities-based provider of telecommunications services
to the residential market. The company is currently providing local phone, long distance, cable television and Internet access to several markets
in the Boston to Washington, D.C. corridor. Information on RCN can be obtained by visiting the company's site on the World Wide Web at
