thanks for the detailed reply. I take it, however, that the installed base of users does not allow CTXS to create a standard/barrier to entry. as to the cost of swithing systems:

If ctxs is going to make additional money from, ie, fedex, they will have to sell additional software to FedEx.(licensing may be another source, but lets abstract from that). Is there any reason why, after FedEx has made an initial investment in CTXS software that (aside from training) it would be cheaper to upgrade to CTXS software than change to ie, msft software?? (I'm not asking about "upgrade pricing"). In other words, if in three years, msft makes a better mousetrap, and its time for FedEx to upgrade anyway, why wouldn't FedEx just hit "Delete" (forgive oversimplification) on their server re CTXS files, and "Install" new msft files?? I cannot think of a reason.

I'm long ctxs for the OTHER reasons you mention, but remain curious about the above, and am trying to pin down the issues.
