Finally: I wonder how long it will be before one of the tracking companies comes up with a study of "How long does a user stay on a site?".
I routinely hop in and out of search sites and all the other YHOO destinations. So I never have a chance to look at the ads there since I am much more goal directed.
When I am at SI, or msnbc or cnn.com or even thestreet.com : I spend a good chunk of time there. Similarly : when I am at hotmail.com, I may spend 5 minutes in front of a single screen.
This gives much more time to notice an Advertisement.

On the flip side though, if search engines were clever, they could assign cookies and develop a profile of what I look for based on what I search for ...
