Cybermedia's "Oil Change" is now shipping (see wire story) and apparently has huge support by the PC software industry. This product will allow major software providers to get updates and bug fixes out to their customers in the quickest and most effective way possible. Of course, the knowledge base that all the major software vendors are strongly supporting will be used by Phoenix/Cybermedia in their "call avoidance" products to PC OEMs. NEC and Packard Bell are already shipping and others will be announced. Another wire store released yesterday by the largest on-line provider of PC software gave a listing of the top 10 software products for the last 3 months and Cybermedia had two of the slots. These guys aren't going away no matter how much the SystemSoft people would like them to. PTEC/Cybermedia will only get stronger and stronger, while the world awaits SystemSoft's product....yet to be released.
