Very interesting chain of thought there Jonas. Sounds to me like INTC is trying to come to grips with the problem of getting RDRAM into the commodity market without the "normal" effect on margins. It reminds me of Carl Johnson's constant theme for this segment of the high tech arena as being like a high stakes poker game. Lots of players have sat down at the table to try to beat the odds. Well if anyone could do it, I'd bet on INTC, but I am a long way from being convinced that it is possible. With government subsidies and the strategic importance of semiconductors it still looks to me like many years of poor profits for commodity DRAMS. There will simply have to be fewer players at the table to change this. That is assuming the anti-trust laws will keep INTC/RMBS from dictating the price and volume of RDRAM units that hit the street. :-) NightOwl
