Possibly word leaked out that Atmel was to make an announcement this morning, and the stock was sold in sympathy with Advanced Micro on news AMD expects weak Q1 results, with association based on overlap in the flash business. They may have assumed it would be an earnings pre-announcement. I just hope this isn't the good part of a good news / bad news routine. Also, some stop-loss orders may have been tripped below $16. The price for Temic is $110M for 260M sales in 1997 as opposed to $140M for 300M sales announced previously. Apparently they purchased the Temic IC business minus the mixed-signal division: "Dialogue Semiconductors Ltd., the mixed signal division of Temic, which had sales of approximately $40 million in 1997, was sold by Daimler to another party."
