Motorola today announces a new $6 billion low earth orbit satellite system. Some competition for Globalstar and Iridium. I guess this will be a CDMA based system, but will have to wait and see. The market is going to be very big for these systems so there seems no real risk of oversupply and failure of investment. Lead times are quite long so more systems should be getting planned now. Hopefully Globalstar are already getting some second stage developments on the drawing board.
