First DVD Conference Marked by Contagious Enthusiasm

WILTON, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 4, 1998--The first DVD Professional Conference, dedicated exclusively to the future of DVD technology and its applications, was held earlier this month in Orlando, FL. DVD Professional: How to Produce & Implement DVD Technology attendees found an intense forum where industry leaders networked, learned from their peers, interacted with sponsors, and focused on the business of DVD. To illustrate the current viability and future potential of DVD technology, the entire two-day, dual-track conference was video recorded in the DVD format for an electronically published version of the proceedings.
Several industry leaders in DVD technology cooperated to make this project possible. CagEnt Technologies offered their MPEGXpress MPEG 2 encoder and ACXpress Dolby Digital encoder to digitize recorded video of the DVD Professional sessions. DVD authoring of the resulting audio and video files was provided by Daiken Software, makers of Scenarist, an authoring system widely used by DVD preproduction facilities around the world. Hosted by an SGI workstation, Daikenis Scenarist system can create menus, subpictures, navigation and presentation commands, and multiplex audio and video files to the exacting specifications of the DVD Video format. Pioneer New Media Technologies provided their recently released DVR-S101 DVD Recordable drive to produce a proof disc of selected portions of the conference that was displayed immediately following the final session.
