Mohan & all - Mohan, you sez "Ps: I am a mercenary I can work for either or both sides.<gg>"
So what is the price in exchange for your temporary loyalty <G>?
IMHO, the sino-tibetan issues are not black and white. Like it or not, a subtle form of cultural genocide is happening in Tibet. One of my tibetan friends has told me that tibetan language is not taught at school. A recent picture has shown a disco located right next to the Potala. Both Anmesty Intl and Asia Human Right Watch have confirmed the dislocation of tibetan natives {by flooding the region with ethnic chinese.]
Having said the above, as a [mostly apathetic] political amateur observer, PRC is trapped by its observations of the dissolution of the USSR. IMHO, it is fearful of the demand of independence from all of its minority regions. Of course, China and the former USSR have very different sets of circumstances.
However, even if PRC has legitimate [political] reasons to hang on to Tibet, there are better ways and manners to treat the local inhabitants. This is especially poignant for the older chinese who have seen a lot of sufferings in recent chinese history, such as Nanking Massacre! It is most sad to see the yesteryear's victim has taken on the role of today's tyrant - especially for a nation and its people who have prided themselves in cultures and civilisations.
