I've been given pause to ponder that one myself. An even more weighty conundrum is: why do they put an expiration date on yogurt? The cultures that make yogurt into your yogurt, as found in your grocer's refrigerator shelves, may be thousands of years old. Having said that, I must report that I have known ugly green-grey mold to grow on both products. But, what the hey, my take on yogurt is that it is nature's antibiotic.

So, shall we speak of the mold on rye bread and of ergot and LSD? Shall we speak of the various potato and cucumber molds? Perhaps we should await the noble and knowledgeable Sir Alex's wisdom in these matters.
