Dan, I watch almost the full hearing and what I've noticed was how Pis*ed off Barksdale was. I was sure glad they had Mike Dell there. Since Dell did not answering the question directly and was beating around the bush about why they don't offer Nestcape to its customers, I'm sure the Senators picked up on just how powerful MS monopoly is and on MS wish could shut down Dell over night by taking away the OS license if he didn't obey MS. I was wondering why nobody asked the question if Dell did offer Netscape to its customers would MS revoke the OS license.

Bill G. reminds me of O.J. He's in denial that MS doesn't have a monopoly. The stupidest thing Gates said was that it's possible that somebody could develop a OS in one day that could topple MS. Is Gates that dumb to say a comment like that or does he think the Senators are that stupid not to understand the software industry. I don't think the spin doctors have prepared that statement for him.

Another interesting fact that was said by somebody was that no venture capitalist would fund any company planning on developing an OS that would compete against MS.

Once again I call this a no brainer - MS is 100% monopolistic as if we didn't already know this. The question is what does the Senate plan to do about this. Sic the DOJ on them even harder would be my advice. I think Gates better pay for more lobbiest and better spin doctors. Oh I almost forgot he should hire Johnny Cochern :-).

Mike
