I read the article and you are right, it is very interesting. It's hard to believe Intel was paying 66% co-op, very generous by any standard I am familiar with. It seems more than fair to pay 1/3, especially when the OEM's are getting additional co-op $'s from MSFT, etc.

The "battle of the brands" will continue in this industry for a while. It is pretty amazing that a component manufacturer (Intel) has better name recognition than most of the box (finished goods) makers. IMHO, this is unprecedented in consumer goods; I don't think it will last forever. Thats why I think, *eventually*, Intel will start making boxes (apology to John Hull, you don't need to deny this again).
