Intel's competitors have no match for the sixteen new Pentiums that Intel will announce BEFORE the Merced ships. On top of that, what has really been proven in the past few months is just how far behind Intel it's competitors are in MANUFACTURING, as well as design. You think Intel will get killed tomorrow ? You are right, it will. But I will still take Intel over AMD any day, thank you, and I haven't been hearing much from either Cyrix or NSM lately. One more round of price cuts, and PII will do a real number on socket 7, not to mention those other 16 processors. And I haven't seen ANY meaningful competition for Merced.
