MELVILLE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 16, 1996--FONAR Corp. (NASDAQ:FONR),
a leading manufacturer of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Scanners (MRI) and holder of the world's
first MRI patent and an array of other patents today released the following statement:

"Siemens and FONAR are pleased to announce that they have
amicably resolved their pending patent infringement litigation in
United States District Court in Delaware in which each company had
asserted certain of its patents relating to magnetic resonance
imaging technology were infringed by the other. The settlement
agreement, which does not admit liability by either party, includes
a cross-license by Siemens and FONAR of certain patents relating to
MRI technology. FONAR will receive a monetary payment from Siemens
and an agreement by Siemens to pay FONAR royalties. Other terms of
the settlement are confidential."

FONAR continues to assert and defend its intellectual property rights. FONAR has so far reached
settlement agreements with Hitachi, Philips and Siemens for its MRI patents.

FONAR is represented by Ronald J. Schutz of the Minneapolis law
firm of Robbins, Kaplan, Miller and Ciresi.
