One thing I dread to think about is that much of the stellar
performance in late 96(?) was because of the wholesale upgrade from the 486 to the Pentium - there is now no such massive upgrade
in the next 2-3 years IMO.

I agree there may still be places running 486s but relying on them
to produce a big earnings surprise is probably wrong.

So what I am wondering is the following: since the comapny already has 90% market share and ASPs are dropping - the only way to increase
profits is to reduce costs.

Sooner or later they have to do it - why not now?
