<Christine, anyone who has spent thousands of hours at a computer terminal blaming Christians for every problem in the world really does hate them. You can believe that you don't, but the evidence on this thread is very clear.>
I am not going to belabor this point, Michael, except to say that it is not true, and I have said so many times, and I consider your repetitious claims to the contrary to be tedious. Perhaps you should stop and try to figure out why someone talking about Christianity as a political or historical force seems to threaten you so much.

The libraries and bookstores are full of books discussing religions not simply as belief systems, but in their political and historical contexts as well. Universities teach courses that examine the same issues. You might be surprised to discover that Christianity is not the predominant religion on earth, and that other people do discuss it in objective terms.

I have acknowledged that I though BOTH of us have behaved badly recently, Michael, and I was obviously referring to that post at Boinking. I try to look at my behavior honestly. I stick with my statement that while I asked you not to post to OR about me, you continued to post about me, and my opinions, and this thread very negatively. I consider that taunting of a sort. I have offered to stop posting to or about you, but I will agree to that only if you do so as well. I don't think you ever really stopped posting about me, incidentally.

What on earth are you talking about? I made a point in my last post to you, that I defended freedom of speech, specifically your right to post on this thread. I have to wonder if you actually read what I write before you again attempt to malign me.

You are imagining things, Michael. I don't believe I have ever bothered Jill, who is really busy, with your posts or even mentioned your name to her.

You know nothing about me, and consistently misrepresent almost everything that I say. If you think you can see me, or have somehow convinced yourself that you understand me at all I would respectfully suggest that you may be having delusions, and should see a mental health professional.

As I said before, I will not post to you or about you unless you continue to make insulting and harassing statements about me or my opinions. This strikes me as absolutely fair, but if you have a problem with it, perhaps you should contact Jill and discuss the matter with her. My understanding of the way problems like that are usually solved is that both the SI members would be prohibited from posting to OR about each other, so perhaps you should take it to the webmistress so that ultimately you will not be able to post to me OR about me. It serves my purpose, which is to be free of your insulting and untrue comments, more than yours, which seems to be to continually defame me, so suit yourself about going to Jill.

I am not harassing you. I am asking you to stop posting to me OR (the key concept you seem to keep missing) ABOUT me. If you continue to misrepresent my views and say untrue negative things about me, I will be forced to continue to defend myself, and I do not consider that harassment.
There are lots of other threads at SI, Michael. Feelings has always been one where atheists and rationalists and pagans and free thinkers of all sorts can feel at home, and sort of figuratively let their hair down. If you do not feel at home here, you are welcome to leave, but if you plan to continue to post here it is not unreasonable to expect that your more illogical and meanspirited posts may continue to be challenged. There are several threads where Christians go to worship electronically here and share each other's fellowship, and I am sure they would love to have your input. |
