MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., March 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Silicon Graphics, Inc. SGI today announced an alliance with Oracle Corp. ORCL to bundle the Silicon Graphics(R) Origin200(TM) server with select Oracle(R) enterprise solutions. This alliance gives enterprise and business computing customers unmatched capabilities to deploy critical business applications and Web sites that are the basis for reliable, scalable and easy-to-maintain Web-based applications.

"Our strategic joint effort with Oracle addresses the industry's increasing demand for rapid deployment of demanding business-critical applications," said Ihab Abu-Hakima, vice president and general manager, Business Computing Division, Silicon Graphics. "The combination of our scalable Origin200 server and Oracle's powerful database provides our enterprise customers with the ability to handle the ever-increasing amounts of data quickly and efficiently."

Silicon Graphics will for the first time be selling and supporting Oracle enterprise solutions to provide customers with a simplified "one-stop-shopping" experience. Adding leading client/server, database and enterprise software offerings to the Silicon Graphics Origin200 server family allows customers to select from a broad range of options and obtain support from a single vendor.

In addition, the Origin200(TM) servers provide the high-speed, scalable functionality required by high-bandwidth applications in Web authoring, e-commerce, application server, video server and database server environments.

Availability

Origin200 with Oracle enterprise solutions for five users, Origin200 with Oracle enterprise solutions for Web/Internet workgroup deployment and the Oracle enterprise solutions for Web/Internet applications deployment with development kit will be available starting March 1, 1998 from Silicon Graphics and its distributors worldwide.
