What I am about to say is nothing more than conjecture...

First off "business is business" and most companies would most likely give very heavy consideration to doing exactly what you said. However if it was ever proven that the company intentionally withheld information from the investors for its own gain I believe they could face some legal problems.

That being it appears to me DELL has always looked out for its investors...maybe I'm being naieve but I don't think this would be any different. The short term gain for the company does not warrant the risk of losing the confidence of the public. This does not mean Dell will not view this as a potentially excellent opportunity to buy back more shares. I know very little about that end of investment transactions so I can only speculate.

I find it curious that CPQ didn't take any more of a hit..I believe it only went down by a dollar or so. I haven't checked HWP, GTW, IBM, etc but I will right after I post this.

Best of luck...I think this storm will pass rather quickly.
