Further to Gentry's news release in Stockwatch February 20 1998, the
private placement of 1,700,000 special warrants at $1.00 for total gross proceeds of $1,700,000 has closed. An option to sell up to an
additional 170,000 special warrants at $1.00 remains outstanding until
April 3 1998. Each special warrant entitles the holder to acquire, at no additional cost, one common share of Gentry, subject to adjustment in some circumstances.

The special warrants were offered through St James Securities and
First Marathon Securities, which are acting as agents in connection with the special warrant offering.

Gentry intends to use its best efforts to file and obtain a receipt for a prospectus to qualify the common shares from the OCS on or before August 2 1998.

Proceeds will be used by Gentry to finance exploration programs in
Western Canada and West Africa.
