Misinformation?
Misinformation?
The information is YOUR INFORMATION - YOU POSTED IT.
For example, in the post below, written in January, 1997, you state that you own 10,000 shares of Novell and that you owned them for "over two years". That means you bought them in January 1995 at the LATEST. For 1994, Novell traded between $15 and $25.
Thus, your purchase price would have been between those numbers
Here is your post - YOUR WORDS - NOT MINE

New Years Greeting to One and All!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Below is some correspondence from Denise Gibson with regard to e-mail I sent to Marengi and Gibson on December 17th. She indicates Greene will be soon. I would like to invite everyone on this thread to send me questions to be asked of Greene and/or comments on the e-mail. Anyone familiar with J Greene should identify his background at Novell. What I like about Denise is that she is short and right to the point!

<What follows is my letter to Marengi and Denice, to which Denice made the above response>
Dear Mr. Marengi,
I am a Novell stockholder. I own 10,000 shares and have held stock in the company for several years. I follow the company and its announcements quite closely. As you know the market for NOS's, web servers, and browser app products is extremely competitive, especially where the hardware platform is Intel based, and especially among customers with less than 25 clients for the server. Novell built its reputation as a company on sales to these small companies. It is my impression that this is also the market that Windows NT is seeking to capture. It is also my impression that in this market many customers are using Netware 3.X and that one of Novell's strategic objectives is to get these customers to upgrade. As I understand it a product code named Kayak has been developed by Novell to meet these objectives. If so, it is in my opinion, a make or break product for Novell. I'm writing you because of the haphazard and uncoordinated way in which IntranetWare, another significant Novell product, was introduced to the market. It is my hope that this experience will not be repeated with Kayak. Namely I hope that a plan has been developed by both your marketing staff and your PR agency to launch this product with a significant campaign. When this product is introduced, your PR agency should keep on top of ALL COMMENTS IN THE PRESS about the product and respond to the uncertainties and the misinformation immediately. They have not done this in the past and I do not believe NOvell can afford poor execution with such a significant product. IF you do not have confidence in the PR agency to execute such a response then do not hesitate to replace them. Consider yourself Lincoln looking for Grant. As to your marketing program for Kayak. I believe by now the product should have been test marketed. As an investor I would like to hear a clear statement of the product line managers objectives for the product, on a single type written page. I would like to see corporate marketing then compare those objectives with the perceptions of the customer base. I believe these marketing functions should be separate. I have heard many good things about the changes you have been trying to make at Novell from Novell employees. However there are serious weaknesses in both Marketing and PR. I hope you will demand the same results from Marketing and PR,that you do from engineering, and not let Kayak enter the market as an afterthought to IntranetWare. Although these remarks may be perceived by some as critical. let me assure you that the marketplace has no scruples about burying a company that does not perform. It is much easier to fire those that cannot respond to constructive criticism with execution then watch the company fail because you listened too long to dead weight.
Sincerely, Paul FIondella |
