Off topic: A section from the Gold Mining Outlook by Kaplan in the last couple of days might interest you : "French central bank governor Jean-Claude Trichet, who is one of the leading contenders to be the first governor of the new European Central Bank(ECB), made unequivocally bullish comments about gold in an interview with Central Banking magazine. 'We have no intention of selling any gold, or in any way downplaying the role of gold as a reserve asset. Gold is a very important element in the credibility of the currency in the eyes of our people. It is one of the elements on which confidence in the currency is based, particularly in the eyes of public opinion. It is often viewed as the ultimate reference asset.' Charles von Arnetschildt, Deutche Bank AG managing director for commodities, stated on Wednesday that the incentive for the planned European Central Bank to hold a relatively large proportion of reserves of gold had been been grossly underestimated by the market. According to Mr. Arenschildt, 'We believe that the ECB will be biased toward holding a relatively large accessible amount of reserves as they build confidence in the Euro.'" It is my understanding that the Fench and Germans have a large say in how the ECB will be structured. Therefore, I would again say that the Euro will be a strong currency. This would not be a small thing.
