mr kahn, MSFT was one of the first(and is still one of the largest) developers for the macOS. the first versions of word and excel were for the mac. the lawsuit problems stems from fmr. ceo sculley's stupidity. in 89, gates and sculley met about the lawsuit-basically that MSFT had copied the look and feel of the macOS. gates tried to be diplomatic and offer to work with apple on making the two platforms compatible. however, sculley DEMANDED that MSFT drop windows development entirely or be sued. gates told him that if the suit was not dropped, MSFT would stop developing SW for the macOS. it was a bluff, but sculley was so dumb they dropped that particular suit. i think wired did an article on it a couple of years ago, you may want to search their website. BTW-my mother taught complitfor @ 10 years. she moved to admin about three years ago. when she left teh classroom, they had just brought her IIgs's to replace the IIe's she had been using. hope your school district is a little more on the cutting edge<G>. good luck to all, trey
