C-Cube Microsystems -2-: DVD Accelerating By Year's End 02/25/97 Dow Jones News Service (Copyright (c) 1997, Dow Jones & Company, Inc.) SAN FRANCISCO (Dow Jones)--Anticipated strong growth of the digital video disk, of DVD, format will prove a boost for C-Cube Microsystems Inc. (CUBE), Chief Executive Alexandre Balkanski said. Balkanski said C-Cube should derive 15% of its revenue from DVD sales in 1997, up from 1% in the fourth quarter of 1996. Sales should really accelerate toward the end of the year and for years to come, he told investors at the Robertson Stephens & Co. technology conference here. Balkanski was also upbeat about the company's business in Japan and Europe. Sales from both locations should climb to a ''double-digit'' share of revenue by the end of the year, compared with 8% from Japan in the fourth quarter and 7% from Europe. The share of company revenue from video CD sales, however, will shrink from 46% in the fourth quarter as the prices of units continue to fall, he said. (END) DOW JONES NEWS 02-25-97
