vladimir--

you make some good points, RE: the contracts. but, we simply do not know enough about netspeed to quantify the threat. whose chip are the using for their g.lite modems? i live in austin, and i have seen very little about netspeed. its really frustrating trying to figure out how much of threat they really are.

as for DMT, having a chip right now doesnt appear to be much of a hindrance. no one is deploying the ALA DMT modems at present, and no one is really deploying the falcon ( the announcement yesterday was very odd in that it didnt mention deployment of ADSL, just DSL..also, there was nothing in it about falcon).

simply put, the bells want the TXN solution. they dont want to have to spend tons of money both in personel and hardware to upgrade chips. IMHO, WSTL has the contracts.

good luck to all,
trey
