Bruce,

Thanks for posting the PC Week article on NC's. I don't think
we can expect much positive spin from their "unbiased" reports.

The inside word I have is that the delay in releasing the
Javastation was caused by performance problems. If SUNW has
solved them, the NC will be a real comer.

This thread has already seen many debates about the pro's & con's
of the NC vs. PC's so I won't go into that here, but I do want
to say that, regardless of how big the marketshare is that is
captured by thin client technology, there is NO denying that it
will force the prices of PC's lower than they have ever been.

I think SUNW's announcement today was really portentous when you
take into consideration INTC's recent announcement regarding
this quarter's earnings. You know, PC companies can only go
so low in price for their machines before their margins really
start to suffer. That may be occurring already. INTC said they
are preparing a "low-end" processor, for cheap PC's. They claim
their shortfall in earnings is due to the transition over to this
low-priced processor. I don't know if I believe that, but it's
clear that the NC has their attention.

cheers,

cherylw
