My impression is that when Vinik gets out of a stock he does it quick and dirty, not trying to disguise his move and not getting top dollar for the last blocks that he sells. Then he will continue to sell, shorting the stock and using the shock waves of a sudden drop to induce others to sell, driving the price down even further. Has not worked with Ciena, at least not yet.
