Hello all. I have watched this thread for several months now and was able to buy into Dell at 75. As you can imagine I am quite happy with my return and plan on being in this stock for long term. Thankfully comments on this thread have kept me from selling at 96, 105, 111 -- probably more. I was fortunate enough to pick up Dell at a time of industry pressure which had no correlation to Dell's business. I am currently considering transferring money in order to buy some more -- I anticipate CPQ's earnings to be disastrous and hope this would allow me to get more for a cheap price. Perhaps I can get in again as I did before. My big concern and analysis of risk on this purchase is not Dell's business but the economic woes of corporations (fortune 500) who buy from Dell. This next round of corp. earnings really worries me and I question if corporations have lessened their buying of capitol stock (PC's) because of pressure on their bottom line coming from overseas, but this is a small concern. I am of course talking about recession here, only because I am a college student and am concerned with preservation of capitol (we are in a 7 year bull mkt you know) -- I have a 2 year time horizon upon needing this money I am investing. My portfolio is up 30% in 3 months though so......I can get out before losing money. This PC demand across the board does not concern me much though, it most likely is a severe channel problem. I consider it a small risk with big reward. It is clear CPQ is hurting and I think Michael anticipated this with his #3 PC maker comment -- it would not happen so fast just by Dell's growth alone.
