I agree with you, not all systems/service providers are created equal. Some have national footprints, no roaming charges, and true value added features like direct connect. How does Bell Atlantic compare?

Disagree. The difference in efficiency between CDMA, TDMA and GSM technology will not determine the winners and losers between service providers. Total subscribers and ARPU will determine the winners, and the service provider who delivers the best value for the customer will win the most subscribers.

In Ohio Nextel offers 700 minutes of cellular and unlimited "true" direct connect for $99. Bell Atlantic is not available (to the best of my knowldege) so I don't know what their plan includes.
If you don't roam or use direct connect, and can buy cellular time for 6 cents a minute you should switch.
BTW when you leave town, does your CDMA phone function in every US city? Just curious.
