My ISP got their news server up and running again, so I was able to catch up on things in ALT.DBS.ECHOSTAR and REC.VIDEO.SATELLITE.DBS
Anyway, I found the following information. I Can't vouch for it's accuracy, but will post it anyway: ------------------------ March 4, 1998
America's Top 50 is changing! After listening to your requests, we've improved DISH Network's programming value and choices. We're proud to announce we have expanded our most popular programming package, America's Top 50 CD, into America's Top 60 CD. We have added these great new services- AMC,Bravo,Independent Film Channel, Romance Classics, MSNBC, CBS Eye on People, Classics Sports Network, and Toon Disney (coming April 18).
Because the US Copyright Office increased the cost for DBS companies to provide Superstations by as much as 86%, WPIX, WSBK, and KTLA will not be included in America's Top 60 Package. These 3 channels however, will be available together with WWOR, a UPN network channel broadcast from NYC, as a separate 4-channel package for $4.99 a month. In addition we are keeping one of our most popular Superstations, WGN, in the AT60 package.
AT60, plus over 30 channels of CD music, is only $28.99 a month. You will receive a preview of the new channels at no additional charge for the entire month of April. Your new price will not take effect until May 1, 1998.
We've not only added new premium channels but we've made it easier for you to build your owncustom movie package. Showtime Extreme will now be part of the Showtime Networks package, and STARZ!2 will join the STARZ/Encore package as of April 1, 1998. Now you can add a great movie package to AT60 and pay less than $40 per month.
Beginning May 1, a single premium channel package is $10.99 per month. Choose the combination you want, and with each premium package you add, the value gets better. For example: choose 6 channels of HBO for $10.99; add 8 channels of the Showtime package for only $9.00 more; than add STARZ!/Encore package for only $8 more. See the enclosed insert for a complete list of choices.
The East or West ABC,NBC,CBS,FOX and PBS Broadcast Network packages will be $4.99 a month each(or $7.99 for both, or $9.99 with the Superstation package) beginning May 1. You now have the flexibility to mix and match these broadcast Network packages with the Superstation package to get precisely the programming you want. See the enclosed insert for all DISH Network's new unbeatable Braodcast Network and Superstations combinations.
For the most complete info about AT69 programming lineup and schedule, or any of these other exciting changes, tune into our customer education channel 100, or visit the Website at www.dishnetwork.com. We hop you'll enjoy these new channels and choices. We work hard to deserve your business.
Best Regards, Mary Peterson VP Marketing
