I am sorry this post never got out sunday as it was intended, but I had
ISP troubles, imagine that.

Several of you are addressed here, to cut down on the extra posts. I don't plan on commenting on the issue
any further, I just want to respond to your comments. (except Aronwald who thinks I'm all wet)

You don't have to be an ex-WSTL or WSTL employee to report the turbulence that I have, you need to know such people. And here in the Naperville area, there are friends I have in the know that have been involved in these matters. We all have contacts whose information we value in companies that matter to us. WSTL being a significant company in this area for R&D, mktg jobs in telecom it is one we professionals appreciate the inside scoop (or poop, as you may think) on. I know people at other cos. around here that are unhappy in their position (TLAB, MOT), but the MAJORITY of those situations revolve around the individuals' goals and that the company is not meeting them satisfactorily. So they go on. But both TLAB and MOT are still excellent companies to work for and they cannot find enough of the right people for their projects. WSTL situation scares people into leaving and some are taking the bait. I'm sure WSTL still has many valued individuals, there is no skeleton crew there, but I only point out that they are losing key people and their reputation as a valued company to work for is going down fast.

TREY:;

>>>what i love is hearing crap from moron analysts.

Trey, if you want to call me a moron go ahead, on days it fits, but please do not insult me and call me an ANALYST - I know nothing of the subject!!!

>>> while most of us agree that seamans is likely gone for good, it is still speculation on our part, and on yours. one of the reasons we like URLs is because they back up assertions.

I suspect you'll get an URL real quick on this one since their 3 months is up -- and it'll be tearful and compassionate and maybe even leave him on the board but not in charge of the day-to-day. I hope I am wrong here, because you SI guys have trashed him about his contracts " hype".
But I have only heard good things about him from my
DISGRUNTLED contacts about how he turned around the company in the tough times, etc. maybe he got lost being CEO of a public co. for the first time. Maybe his abrupt departure has some thing to do with employee morale??Huh? I know that's pure ranting becuz I never met the man, only met those that met him. However, they could ignore the public like they ignored their own folk, I dunno.

Your Dell analysis - well it sounds good if you're a bull - are you in WSTL mktg. or sales Dept? Do you know how a telecom product like a DSLAM is produced? Like the RBOCs are the same as the average Joe on the street with nothing to compare to their product but some feature bullet list and price, and that's it? Let me see, Dell has to do all that Network Management Stuff and compose the operating system and the interprocessor communications layer ( well that's clearly defined in some book somewhere). I mean, of course, it is in the BIOS that we can remote download new software to our modem. And I am certain the resynchronization process due to carrier loss is clearly an off the shelf item for us to purchase, package and ship in two zillion units with a 4% margin and be done with it!! Guess WSTL never needed all those SW guys after all! If you think WSTL plans on making money against the modem guys ( those that are or will enter the mkt) you are mistaken, they gave up that idea some time ago.
They only plan on delivering the total solution, but no full well that the modem side of things produces nominal profit gains that is why there is this company called Dovatron to do the offloading of excess manufacturing ( which if you didn't catch my earlier post equals most of the next years' plans).

>> the R&D expenses are offloaded to your chip supplier

So why have any engrs? What are the ones that are there doing if TI/AMTX has the whole solution? Drops right in! I guess all the more reason for them to leave, only they are smarter than that.

On a personal note, I hope this didn't irritate you too much because I only mean to say what I know and sometimes ( the DELL idea) hits too close to home, sorry in advance if that offends you.

I am sorry for those who have persevered on this long on this ridiculous rebuttal, but you see I only get 3 posts and since I am SUCH a rookie I have to consolidate, but you can just move along. But my hot air calls for bill c.

I am not sure who said it but I agree that you are a well-respected soul on the many threads at SI and I value your facts ( no opinions, right?). And I TRUST everyone.ahem.

>>Would you like to discuss what you mean by "fringes of engineering development". I think it would help us<< From WSTL URL >>Sr Design Engr 1(Interoperability Team Leader) - HR336<<

Right from the so-called employment opportunities. Read the description is it fringe or core development personnel? Fringes are not immediately or directly related to the actual HW/SW development of a product, just the support or outskirts of development. Interoperability Team Leader? I'd be worried . and he just got hired ? or no?

>> I don't have a problem with an Ex-Westell employee venting on the SI threads.
I think I have answered this above, but do not brandish me such a person, I have never been that gullible except when I was puppy-dog teenager. If you haven't noticed ---cynicism exceeds gullibility.

>> I don't know... until later.
The Seamans issue had better be sooner for my friends' sakes.

I think you feel I just have negative info? Well usually they publish all the positive spins imaginable, and some that are a bit overblown. But actually, I was surprised that there was no press release on the trial DSL shipment that just occurred. Maybe they will in the near future, but they could have prevented that last break in the stock's short-term outlook with the press release. Maybe the corporate relations guys will read this and do so, you can hope.

3/5 PS -- The LU "deal" was not the press release that I was referring to.
